Clothing Care Guide and Material Properties

The wide range of clothing includes a variety of materials from which our garments are made.

In our online store, you will most frequently come across cotton and polyester. In addition to these, there are also materials such as elastane, acrylic, spandex, polyamide, etc.

CARE OF CLOTHING

Despite the high quality of the materials, garments may lose their original appearance if handled improperly (e.g., altered shape, cracked or torn prints, faded color, discoloration, or other damage).

These issues may occur if:

  • you use aggressive detergents
  • you wash clothes at excessively high temperatures, above the recommended ones
  • you mix colors that should not be washed together (e.g., white and black)
  • sharp or rough objects are present in the drum, such as open zippers, coins, or keys, which can damage the fabric
  • you tumble-dry clothes that are not suitable for machine drying
  • you iron garments that are not meant to be ironed, or you iron directly over the print
  • you soak clothes for an extended period of time (e.g., in water with detergent)

To avoid damage, always follow the basic care instructions provided on the label/tag of each garment and wash accordingly.

TIP: Before washing, always empty the pockets, close zippers and buttons, and turn garments inside out, especially those with printed or delicate details.

Which clothes should not go into the tumble dryer?

Sports or activewear should not be placed in the tumble dryer, as most of it is made from special materials (so-called technical fabrics) that are sensitive to high temperatures and mechanical friction. Heat can damage the functional properties of these garments, reduce elasticity, and weaken the material itself.

Also not suitable for machine drying are:

  • silk garments
  • underwear, as the tumble dryer wears out latex, lace, and other delicate fabrics
  • garments made of elastic spandex, which may shrink in the dryer
  • clothing with embellishments such as sequins, rhinestones, beads, etc., as they may become damaged or fall off

MATERIALS AND THEIR PROPERTIES

COTTON

Characteristics:

+ strong, warm, soft, and highly absorbent

+ easy to maintain, does not generate static electricity

+ garments made of pure cotton do not irritate the skin

- less elastic

- wrinkles easily and retains heat less effectively

- frequent washing may cause color to fade

Care:

Cotton tolerates high temperatures well.

  • 100% cotton garments can be washed up to 60 °C
  • garments made of blended fabrics with cotton should be washed up to 40 °C
  • white cotton laundry can also be washed at temperatures up to 95 °C

Cotton garments can be tumble-dried and ironed with a hot iron (preferably with steam).

POLYESTER

Characteristics:

+ strong, durable, and resistant to wrinkling

+ dries quickly

+ retains its shape well

- not breathable (the material does not allow air circulation)

- sensitive to high temperatures

Care:

Polyester garments should be washed at a maximum of 40 °C.

If ironing is necessary, turn the garments inside out and iron at a low temperature.

Characteristics:

+ very elastic and flexible

- low heat resistance

Care:

Elastane garments should be washed at a maximum of 30 °C.

Ironing should be done very carefully, with the garment turned inside out, as the fibers are very sensitive to heat.

ACRYLIC

Characteristics:

+ lightweight, soft, does not itch

+ water-resistant

- less warm than wool

Care:

Acrylic garments should be washed at temperatures up to 30 °C, as higher temperatures may cause shrinkage.

They dry quickly and do not wrinkle, so ironing is generally not necessary.
